Who we are
This website is operated by the Nurture Project, a climate resilience initiative supporting smallholder farming communities in Cambodia. We are the controller responsible for the personal data described below.
This policy covers nurtureproject.org and our photo gallery at gallery.nurtureproject.org. Both are run by the Project and both are described by the same practices below; the gallery is reached from the main menu and adds no cookies, no forms and no analytics of its own.
If you have any question about this policy, or wish to exercise any of the rights set out at the end of it, please write to info@nurtureproject.org.
What we hold, and why
We do not collect, store, or share personal information such as your name or email address unless you choose to send it to us.
If you contact us
Our contact form is handled by Formspree, a form-processing service based in the United States. When you submit the form, the name, email address and message you enter are transmitted to and stored by Formspree on our behalf, so that we can receive and reply to your message. This means your information is transferred outside Cambodia and outside Switzerland. Formspree processes it only for the purpose of delivering it to us; see the Formspree privacy policy. We keep correspondence only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and for our normal record-keeping.
Videos
Some pages include videos hosted on YouTube. These are not loaded unless you ask for them. We show a still image with a play button, and nothing is requested from YouTube until you click it.
If you do click, your browser connects to YouTube (Google) and YouTube may set cookies on your device and record that you viewed the video. We have no control over that processing. For details, see the Google privacy policy. If you would rather avoid this entirely, simply do not click the play button — the rest of the page works normally.
Website statistics
This website does not use any analytics, tracking, or advertising service, and we do not build profiles of individual visitors. To understand how many people visit the site and which of our publications are downloaded, we count requests in our own web server logs. In practice this means:
- We set no cookies of our own, and nothing is stored on or read from your device.
- IP addresses are shortened before they are written to the log. The final part of the address is removed as the request is recorded, so your full IP address is never stored.
- We use these shortened addresses together with your browser’s user-agent string only to estimate how many distinct visitors the site had. They are not used to identify you.
- The information is used only in aggregate — for example, “the site received 1,240 visits in March” or “the factsheet was downloaded 86 times”. No individual visitor is identifiable in our reports, and we never publish or share individual-level data.
- Raw logs are kept for a limited period of 30 days and are then deleted. Only aggregate counts are kept, for reporting purposes.
We do this on the basis of our legitimate interest in measuring and reporting the reach of our work, and in line with the statistical-processing provisions of the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection. Because the data is aggregated and individuals cannot be identified from it, it cannot be traced back to you.
Other third-party requests
Our pages load an icon font from cdnjs, a public content delivery network operated by Cloudflare. This means Cloudflare receives your IP address when a page loads. No cookies are set and the request carries no referrer information. We are working on hosting this ourselves so that the request is no longer needed.
Cookies
We do not set cookies. The only cookies that can be placed on your device while using this site come from YouTube, and only if you click to load a video as described above. Because of this, you will not see a cookie banner: there is nothing optional to consent to.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask us what personal data we hold about you, and receive a copy of it;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data deleted;
- object to, or ask us to restrict, processing of your data; and
- receive data you gave us in a portable format.
Because our website statistics are aggregated and our logs are shortened and short-lived, in most cases we hold no data from which you can be identified, and there may be nothing to retrieve or delete. Where we do hold something — for example, an email you sent us — we will respond to your request.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@nurtureproject.org. We will answer within 30 days.
If you believe we have handled your data improperly, you may lodge a complaint with the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), www.edoeb.admin.ch. If you are in the European Union, you may instead complain to the supervisory authority in your own country.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
